Dog Friendly Stays in the UK

Dog friendly hotel

Recent surveys by Morethan and Chien Bleu have highlighted how strongly we, the British Public, feel about their pets. Pet travel is forecast to grow by an estimated 6% year-on-year for the next five years, with dogs representing almost 80% of all holidaying pets in the UK. However over half of dog owners found sourcing dog friendly accommodation.

As the "Hound Pound" increases more of UK dog owners will choose holiday accommodation according to whether they can take their canine companion with them.

That’s where Best Dog Walks UK are here to help.

Every month we also recommend 3 carefully researched recommended places to stay according to your budget.

In addition if you would like to have a paw-fect pint in addition to your stopover take a look at our dog friendly pubs app which features dog-friendly accommodation and reviews - available on iPhone, Android and Smartphone mobile phones.

You’ll recognise the app because it features a cartoon of Boomer with a pint in his paw!

You can search thousands of dog friendly pubs which offering dog friendly accommodation, including dog friendly hotels. Search according to your current location, postcode or the name of a dog friendly public house or dog friendly hotel.

All reviews are independently rated - pubs do not pay to be listed - and range from award winning gourmet dining establishments to real ale and CAMRA recommended inns. Licensed cafes are also included.

You and your pampered pooch can thoroughly research a dog friendly hotel or doggie pub before making a booking or reservation. Is there a beer garden where dogs are allowed? Is the local park welcoming to dogs and do they have to be on or off the lead?

Recommended Stays

*Stay of the Month* Self Catering Chalet - Bryn Crug, Mid Wales

*Stay of the Month* Self Catering Chalet - Bryn Crug, Mid Wales

This wonderful chalet is on the Woodlands Holiday Park a few miles outside of Tywyn and just a short drive to lots of dog-friendly beaches at Aberdovey, Twywn and Fairbourne.

The self-catering chalet has two bedrooms (1 double room and 1 bunkbed room with a double bed below and single bed above), a shower room, and an open plan living area and kitchen. Beside the chalet there is a quiet seating area with views across the valley where vintage steam trains can regularly be heard during summer months climbing through the hills.

There are lots of dog-friendly walks and places to visit in the local area and there are several books and maps in the chalet for you to use.  We highly recommend a visit to the spectacular Dolgoch Falls and the vast open sands and dunes of Fairbourne Point where you can join the beautiful Mawdach Estuary Trail and walk for miles along the estuary shore.

The Blue House, Normandy

The Blue House, Normandy

The Blue House is situated on the edge of the pretty town of Ducey, Normandy and is VERY dog friendly.

Residents Millie the Staffie and new addition Franco the French Bull Terrier pup along with English owners Di and Nick have 3 rooms and a large enclosed picture perfect garden.

Ducey is very dog friendly and has a range of cafes, restaurants with plenty of walks within minutes of the B&B.

The coast and Le Mont St Michel are 20 minutes away if you fancy venturing further afield.

There is still some availability for the summer holidays whether you want to stay for 1 night or a week.

We would highly recommend this affordable, comfortable and relaxing B&B which is easily accessible from Dinard airport or 1 1/2 hours drive from the nearest ferry.
